Rinda Bartley serves as principal of both Valley High School and Dublin Adult School. She joined Dublin Unified in August of 2008 after a wonderful trip around the world with her family during the spring semester of 2008.  She thinks of it as her year one of retirement taken early!

Rinda grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis and graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in English Literature.  She spent the year following graduation in Kyoto, Japan, teaching conversational English to business men in international companies such as IBM and Sony.  She earned her teaching credential at Mills College in 1986 and has been an educator in Bay Area public schools since then.  She began her career in Vallejo, teaching English at Vallejo High School. She moved to Mount Diablo Unified in 1998, and began her work in alternative education working in the Foster Youth Services Program.  After earning her MA in Educational Leadership at St Mary's college, she moved to Olympic Continuation High School as Vice Principal and then Principal for a total of 7 years.

Rinda feels very fortunate to have found her way to Dublin, a district that values and supports alternative education, and to Valley High School.  Her goal is to preserve Valley's long tradition of balance between academic rigor and strong emotional support for each student so that Valley grads can thrive and compete in today's demanding world.
